SOL SOL

SOL SOL
Sol Sol is a Swedish free jazz quartet that has been striking with high productivity since its inception by guitarist David Stackenäs and saxophonist Elin Forkelid. With the new album Oscillations (VÖ 3). October 2025, Sail Cabin Records, the group has released its fourth release in just six years.
The music is based on compositions by Stackenäs and Forkelid, complemented by collective improvisations. The change in the line-up with drummer Nils Agnas also marks an artistic extension: Free improvisations are more integrated into the program and interweave with the elaborated pieces. The tension between precise structure and open freedom is explored.
Sol Sol combines influences of John Coltrane, Pharoah Sanders and Brazilian music with its own tonal language, which is equally based on sound research, melodic subtlety and intense interaction. The quartet thus moves beyond narrow genre boundaries and understands its work as art as music.
