Kasia Pietrzko Trio

Kasia Pietrzko Trio

The Kasia Pietrzko Trio combines expressive intensity with fine nuance and moves between impressionism and powerful sound design. Pianist and composer Kasia Pietrzko is accompanied by Piotr Budniak (drums) and Andrzej Święs (double bass). Together they create a dynamic musical language characterized by striking themes, complex structures and expressive improvisations.

With their new album Fragile Ego, the trio presents a work that reflects the duality between sensitivity and determination. The compositions are characterized by dense textures, rhythmic complexity and a deep emotional expressiveness. The music combines subtle lyrics with powerful accents and shows Pietrzko’s ability to transfer orchestral ways of thinking into the trio format.

The pianist, who has already been associated with greats like Tomasz Stańko, has continued to evolve since her debut Forthright Stories (2017). Her work includes cross-genre projects, including the composition Anxious Beauty for jazz ensemble and choir, and the album Norwid, a collaboration with saxophonist Maciej Kądziela and actor Andrzej Chyra.

With Fragile Ego, released in the renowned Polish Jazz series, Pietrzko becomes the first bandleader of this traditional collection. The music reflects her personal and artistic development – a balance of fragility and expressiveness, introspection and bold creative power.

Line-up :

Kasia Pietrzko – Piano, Composition, Arrangement

Piotr Budniak – Drums

Andrzej Święs – Double bass

Pressestimme:
Ted Panken (DownBeat, JazzTimes):
"Was Pietrzko von anderen technisch brillanten Pianisten unterscheidet, ist ihre Fähigkeit, Erinnerungen in Klang zu übersetzen. Die Freude beim Hören dieses Albums mag flüchtig erscheinen, doch die Musik selbst ist es nicht."
