Aly Eissa, Joel Ferrando

Aly Eissa, Joel Ferrando

Aly Eissa (born 1993) is a self-taught oud player, composer and improvisational artist from Cairo, Egypt. It was shaped by legendary composer Abdo Dagher and oud virtuoso Hazem Shahin. Eissa’s style is deeply rooted in Egyptian classical and folk music and influenced by different musical styles. Since 2012, he has regularly performed solo and in ensembles with his own compositions, creating a versatile, meditative atmosphere.

His pieces are long, multi-layered compositions that combine different genres and emotions. The improvisations make each concert a unique experience and create a direct connection to the audience.

During his stay in Dresden, Aly Eissa will play together with Dresdner trumpeter Joel Ferrando.
