Pudlax

The new trio Pudlax presents a unique combination of modern jazz and free improvisation. The members have been playing together as a rhythm section in various projects for quite some time, which led to the founding of this trio. The music is characterized by demanding compositions and spontaneous communication of the musicians.

At the centre of the trio are the siblings Klára Pudláková (Avokaduo, 2in2out, Uthando, Molotov Moloch, Maomah) and Jan Pudlák (Uthando, Empyrean Sextet, Crescent Quartet). The trio is completed by drummer Jakub Švejnar (Jungle Debris, Uthando, KIN). In 2023 they recorded their first album "11mg", which contains 10 original tracks by Jan Pudlak and a song by Klára Pudláková.

The compositions on the album are the result of several years of searching for a novel musical expression. It plays with elements of a certain absurdity, which on the one hand manifest humor and playfulness, but on the other hand also show absolute seriousness in complex structures. The album was released on the progressive Czech label Ma Records and features guest contributions from musicians such as the Danish vibraphonist Viktoria Søndergaard, who will also be present this evening, as well as violinist Jana Havláková and saxophonist Martin Debřička.

Pudlax is thus working on expanding the timbres of the jazz trio by integrating other instruments. Experience the diversity and innovation of Pudlax in this unique musical journey.
