Honggyu Lee Trio

In the summer of 2022, Honggyu Lee began his studies in jazz at the Nuremberg School of Music, where he met Luca Drexel (double bass) and Theo Wolf (drums). This encounter not only resulted in a close friendship, but also the shared enthusiasm for guitar trios in modern jazz.

The Honggyu Lee Trio ties in with this sound ideal, but extends it by using modern effects sounds and colorful chords. This combination gives the band a distinctive, distinctive sound that clearly sets them apart from other formations. The pieces are made by Honggyu Lee, but are elaborated and arranged in the collective process – in line with the jazz motto “Tradition is Innovation”.

The recording of the first studio album is planned for the end of the year. In 2024, the trio was awarded the Nuecomer Jazz Award.

Line-up :
Honggyu Lee – Gitarre
Luca Drexel – Kontrabass
Theo Wolf - drums
