To create rhythmically and harmoniously demanding, yet accessible music, that is the credo of the 4 musicians of the band xlush founded in 2021. With their debut album “panæ” released in 2023, the quartet devoted itself to a concept that invites the audience on an excursion whose pull is characterized by a never-ending river of varied sound events. No cut should interrupt the 3-part journey. The titles of the album were put on the tape in one-take recordings and simultaneously recorded with a 360° camera. The resulting mood almost has a hypnotic effect, which is confirmed by the bonus track “cinctulus”, which draws even the most restless contemporaries into the world of theta brain waves.
Due to the exotic cast, which dispenses with a bass instrument in the classical view, the members are forced to constantly change musical roles and act as jumpers by means of electronic means. There are moments in which the violin lays out a carpet of fundamental sine sounds, on which the saxophone romps off with synthetic sounds with a tooth drill attitude. Jan-Einar Groh (drums) and Fabian Adams (saxophone) enrich the multi-layered listening experience through the use of modular synthesizer systems, Simeon Hudlet (guitar) and Felix Klingner (violin/vocals) use conventional effect devices to round off the songs with electroacoustic facets. xlush plays new compositions that take you on a transcendent, musical journey. So come on board the Progmetal spaceship and let’s take off together. Once you escape your own orbit, a colorful melange of melancholy sound spheres, dance-driven folk elements and monstrous riffs awaits you without losing sight of the overall dramaturgy.
