nähmaschinenQuartett

jazz

With Times, a new era in the already ten-year history of the quartet around guitarist Simon Harscheidt begins. The nähmaschinenQuartett has now found its sound with its third studio album: the unmistakable duet of saxophone and guitar, carried by the playful groove of bass and drums, became the trademark of the young Munich quartet.

The composer’s overall goal has not changed since the beginning: the melodies of his songs should be beautiful and catchy. Why shouldn’t contemporary instrumental jazz also be able to produce earworms?

Press reviews:

“Musically, the four of them move between pop and classical, between electric and acoustic music, between melodically engaging compositions and – what a delightful surprise – the blues. […] And the way they played it – the ‘Nähmaschinen Blues’ – simply commands respect. By the way: the band name alone is worthy of an award!”

(Süddeutsche Zeitung)

“[…] By incorporating these influences into their own guiding principle of ‘catchy and sophisticated at the same time’, however, the band has carved out a thoroughly unique niche for themselves, one in which the lyrical finds a place alongside the intricate, the fragile alongside the intense.”
