Four For Free

Always in motion. Sometimes elegant and fast-paced like the common tern, sometimes slow and swirling like the bacterial colony in a free bowl of nuts at the bar round the corner: the compositions of the ‘Four For Free’ quartet bring these contrasts together. One thing always remains the same: the music never stands still, but moves organically from one point to the next.

The arrangement is different every evening and deliberately leaves room for the individual contributions of the four musicians. Together, they shape and mould their pieces into a coherent musical whole – at times angular, at times quiet, at times deliberately open to interpretation. The result is a form of modern jazz that is constantly evolving, responding to one another, yet still functions as a cohesive whole.

One thing this music certainly is: gripping, surprising and always in motion.
