Trond Kallevåg with band

The Norwegian guitarist, pedal steel player and composer Trond Kallevåg is often compared to artists such as Ry Cooder and Bill Frisell. His music evokes vivid imagery and quiet musical storytelling, and is often compared to the atmosphere of a Wim Wenders film. Trond Kallevåg is known for his instrumental, cinematic sound, characterised by a distinctive blend of Nordic folk traditions, jazz improvisation and subtle Americana. Across four critically acclaimed albums on the pioneering Norwegian label Hubro Records, Kallevåg has developed a deeply personal musical language centred around the guitar and pedal steel.

His latest album, *Minnesota* (2025), featuring Gard Nilssen, Mats Eilertsen (ECM) and Tuva Halse, explores themes such as migration, distance and longing, drawing on Norwegian and Norwegian-American musical traditions as well as historical narratives. M
