Code MD

Code MD is dedicated to Miles Davis’s electric, funk-influenced later period. Founded in Dresden in 1987 by musicians from the circle around Dekadance, the project has developed the bluesy, powerful sound of this era through changing line-ups. The focus is on the years shaped by synthesisers, funk and strong grooves, and on Davis’s collaborations with musicians and producers such as Marcus Miller—with classics such as “Tutu”, “Amandla” and “We Want Miles” as musical reference points. Code MD sees itself as more than a tribute band: the musicians bring these pieces into the present with their own approach and plenty of room for improvisation.
